Annotation: The article deals with the role of territorial, geographic and geopolitical factors in formation and development of regional specific features of architecture of buildings, structures and their complexes in Donetsk region cities at present stage of its contemporary history and during the preceding historic periods. In the article the composition of these factors and the nature of their impact on the typology and architectural and planning organization of buildings and structures are specified. The prospective lines of Donetsk region development under modern conditions are traced on the basis of the formation of specific cluster complexes having production and sectoral, transport and logistic, agro-industrial, educational production, recreational and touristic, historical and architectural nature, etc. The image and design features common for each of such complexes as well as the significant regional specific features should be reflected in the architecture of their buildings and structures. The present article examines the aesthetic features of compositional and artistic design of buildings and structures in Donetsk region which are influenced by the events and conditions of its contemporary historic period.
