Investigation of Hydrodynamic Characteristics of an Ascending Cyclone Vortex
Abstract: Cyclones as the most characteristic representatives of dry inertial dust collectors are considered in the article, the study of gas-dynamic processes of an ascending cyclone vor-tex is carried out. In a rising vortex in addition to the drag force and the centrifugal force is the force due to the action of the radial pressure gradient and, therefore, it has two zones: the zone where the force due to the action of the radial pressure gradient exceeds the centrifugal force; and the area where the opposite centrifugal force exceeds the force due to the action of a radial pressure gradient. It is established that the boundary, where the centrifugal force is equal to the force due to the action of the radial pressure gradient, is equal to half the radius of the exhaust pipe and does not depend on the design and operational parameters of cyclones. The obtained dependence of the axial velocity in the ascending vortex has an inversely quadratic characteristic and is applicable to cyclones of any design.
