Forecasting the Material Consumption of Construction Products
Abstract: Reducing material consumption remains one of the key goals of the construction industry, as it significantly affects the total cost of construction projects. This process is significantly influenced by factors such as labor costs and capital intensity of products. The article analyzes the main approaches to improving the efficiency of capital investments, which is achieved by reducing the material consumption in construction. The most important direction of sustainable economic development is the transition to intensive growth methods, rational use of available production resources and optimization of material, labor and financial resources. One of the priorities of the industry is to reduce the material consumption of construction. This is due to the fact that construction occupies a leading place among the most resource-intensive sectors of the economy. As an example, over 20 % of all ferrous metal products produced, about 80 % of cement, more than 30 % of wood and about 11 % of polymers and synthetic resins are consumed. Thus, reducing the material consumption in construction is becoming not only a key factor in increasing the productivity of the industry, but also an important reserve for increasing the efficiency of capital investments, as well as one of the priorities facing the construction sector.
