Methods for the plastic deformation of the surface layer machine parts

Abstract: A classification of methods of surface plastic deformation (SPD) has been given. An assessment of experience in the application of surface plastic deformation, as a way of improving the quality of the surface and increase of the longevity of the product, has been done. It has been considered the features methods of SPD, which are realized without chip removal by the deformation of asperities and deep adjacent to the surface layers of the material. The result is a significant reduction in roughness of the surface hardening layer. The surface layer having residual compressive stresses. The results of the latest research in the use of SPD and assessed the prospects for the introduction of data processing techniques in manufacturing, has been given.
